Poster
I another created poster to give me various ideas on the final product for my thriller film. I used a dark scary woods, as scenery to create an eerie atmosphere for the viewer as well as a female figure with her back turned, walking into the dark forest alone relating the a scene that happens within the film itself. I used star ratings in the top right and left corners to interest viewers to hopefully come and view my film in the full experience at the cinema. I located 'Hear My Cry' at the top of the page in red to create a colour scheme the viewer can relate to the film itself, but also so it is the first aspect of the poster the viewer actually looks at. The credits are placed at the bottom because viewers aren't really interested in these specific information. An lastly the tag line of "Isolated, Lost, Alone...", related to the movie itself as the young girl, Emily, doesn't become all three of the aspects but also creates mystery for the viewer so they want to come and find out what happens to the young girl.
Actions
I decided to a created a 3D view of what my front cover of a film magazine would look like on a real magazine to give a more effective view of the film cover featuring my film, 'Hear My Cry'. I done this particular technique by adding actions to the photoshop software where my work i had created was present, which then allowed me to process this format. i think it is useful to use as it gives an idea of how professional it looks and how the target audience would be presented with the advertisement of my film. It gives me ideas on what to improve to make it distinctive from other typical similar magazine and also how i can make my look as professional as possible. i like how the first aspect i notice on the page itself is the image as it is bold and stands out on the page, this is useful as it will hopefully catch the audience's eye and make them want to buy the magazine to find out more information about this particular film. The next significant aspect I personally believe is the title of the film, 'Hear My Cry', the fact it is hand written and has a gothic reference empathises the horror/thriller element of the film itself. I do also personally believe the magazine looks realistic as it features a bar code, sub headings aswell as a main heading, a real film magazine logo and a slogan.

scenery
I found this particular scenery very effective as it creates a dark eerie atmosphere for the audience whn looking at it which i was hoping to achieve.
Film cover research
I researched various horror/thriller film front covers that feature the film itself. I found these following two the most effective towards me for various reasons.
This particular one if effective towards me as the main imaged used is a close-up shot of the main character wearing dark makeup to express something happens to him within the film itself, giving hints to the audience about what may happen. the dark background creates tension and a eerie atmosphere. The big title of the name of the magazine itself is printed across the top of the page so people are able to recognise the magazine and likely want to buy it. i prefer this layout of the magazine as it doesn't look to clustered and in the readers face and shows important aspects that they need to know.
This specific magazine front cover featuring a film, uses an effective image as it is unusual and the reader is unlikely to have seen a similar image like this on a front cover making this particular one distinctive and rememberable. Again 'Empire' is printed across the top of the page so people are able to recognise the magazine itself. The writing is spread all over the page, which i am unsure whether or not it is effective towards the reader because maybe they find it difficult to take in all of the various information.

My Poster
I decided to choose a dark background to enhance the tension created for the audience and also create an eerie atmosphere. I chose a dominant character as the main part of power to signify to the viewer she plays a main part in the film and indicates something bad is likely to happen to her. I used dark makeup to relate to the plot as i thought it would be effective and more realistic for the audience when watching the movie itself. The big bright light coming from the top right hand corner symbolises she is nearly dead and reaching for the light, however not quite there and still a little bit alive, confusing the reader to why she is still alive and what her intentions may be. i located the title, 'Hear My Cry' near the bottom of the page, quite small to indicated she is screaming for help from someone but it isn't very loud, and lets the audience decide if anyone actually hears. The star rating by 'The Daily Mail' and 'The Mirror' explains to the audience that it is going to be a good film and they're most likely to enjoy it, if they watch it. On the back cover of the DVD i placed blood spots to indicate death has occurred but it doesn't quite explain who, so the viewer is left guessing. The tag line of 'Isolated, Lost, Alone' indicated to the audience she needs help but they're unsure onto why that is so therefore resulting in tension being created for them.
Another Draft
I decided to modify the back cover and remove the 'special features' and blood spot as it was an experiment to see if they were actually effective to my dvd cover itself.
My DVD Cover
This is a daft i created for my thriller trailer called 'Hear My Cry'.
I decided to choose a dark background to enhance the tension created for the audience and also create an eerie atmosphere. I chose a dominant character as the main part of the front cover to signify to the viewer she plays a main part in the film and indicates something bad is likely to happen to her. I used dark makeup to relate to the plot as i thought it would be effective and more realistic for the audience when watching the movie itself. The age rating of '15' i think is relevant as it contains violence and strong language, by locating it at the bottom right hand corner is effective as the viewer is able to see and recognise the symbol without it effecting the tension created. The two images underneath the summary, show the dark forest to where Emily was last seen, a scene within the film. And the other image of the man is her father who abuses her, is this who killed her? it is left to the audience to make this particular judgement. i added the blood spot and 'special features' as i personally thought they were effective to the audience and worked well with my dvd cover.
